Custom JSON links for Agent Profiles

By default, the USS agents will inspect only traffic from services listed within the default JSON file. You can inspect other applications as long as they meet the following three criteria.

  1. The application uses the HTTP protocol.
  2. Allows the USS Agent to perform SSL/TLS inspection.
  3. Uses standards-based encryption.

If the application meets these criteria, then the USS Agent can inspect the request and apply policy in the same way as a browser request. Below is a list of custom JSON for the Windows and Mac USS agent and the additional applications they will inspect.

Know applications that do not work through the Windows USS Agent.

If you enable the Intercept all running processes option within the Agent Profile, then the process below will need to be bypassed with the Bypass Executable/Process Name option if they are used within your environment.

Dropbox

Certificate pinning. The application enforces certificate pinning by trusting only Dropbox’s certificate. As a result, the USS Agent cannot perform SSL/TLS inspection, preventing dropbox.exe from establishing a connection.

WhatsApp

Custom Encryption. The application uses custom encryption, which prevents the USS Agent from inspecting its traffic. As a result, whatsapp.exe is unable to establish a connection.

Grammarly

Certificate pinning. The application enforces certificate pinning by trusting only Grammarly certificate. As a result, the USS Agent cannot perform SSL/TLS inspection, preventing Grammarly.exe from establishing a connection.
